Women in legislatures across U.S. fight for ‘potty parity’ | Camden News

In the U.S. Capitol, the first restroom for congresswomen didn't open until 1962. While a facility was made available for female U.S. Senators in 1992, it wasn't until 2011 that the House chamber opened a bathroom to women lawmakers. https://www.camdenarknews.com/news/2025/jul/27/women-in-legislatures-across-us-fight-for-potty/ Best Regards Seetha Ram

Private jets and HSR

In China it is easy to cover shortish distances on the ground using high-speed rail or pristine new highways. That is not at all the case in India. As for commercial flights, schedules in India are not yet deep enough to permit day-tripping to the small cities and factory sites that tycoons sometimes visit. Fertility crisis in Japan

Rather than having another child, parents typically invest extra funds in their existing children's education. This creates the "quality versus quantity trade-off": families choose fewer children but invest more heavily in each one. Asia's policymakers must get creative to fight fertility crisis https://asia.nikkei.com/Opinion/Asia-s-policymakers-must-get-creative-to-fight-fertility-crisis

Sand, sun and stench

The gasses created by rotting sargassum are also toxic: last month, several seaside schools in Martinique were forced to close after hydrogen sulphide and ammonia levels spiked. Some companies want to help. One called Seafields has developed a system to catch the algal tide before it reaches shore, using satellite images and drones to track the sargassum's movements. AI is killing the web. Can anything save it?

News publishers are planning for "Google zero", using newsletters and apps to reach customers who no longer come to them via search, and moving their content behind paywalls or to live events.  https://www.economist.com/business/2025/07/14/ai-is-killing-the-web-can-anything-save-it Best Regards Seetha Ram

Office efficiency

White-collar bureaucracy is a black mark on company efficiency https://asia.nikkei.com/Opinion/White-collar-bureaucracy-is-a-black-mark-on-company-efficiency Common sense dictates that collective time spent on internal operations -- which bring no direct benefit to the organization -- must be minimized.

Research on friends

Researchers at Meta and New York University analysed friendships between 1.8bn adult Facebook users. They estimated the closeness of each connection using a proprietary model developed by Facebook, using such things as the frequency of two-way interactions. They turned this into a "cross-gender friendship index", which they should really have called the "When Harry Met Sally index" ( whmsi , pronounced "whimsy"). A score of zero means men and women are entirely segregated, one means they have an equal number of same- and cross-sex friends. Anything more than one means they are chummier with the opposite sex than their own. Flexible Curriculums Foster Well-being at Schools - The Japan News

To ensure that all students can enjoy learning and have a happy school life, we must at the very least avoid obstructing their passions. And similarly, enthusiastic young teachers should be supported in shaping this kind of learning through policy and systems. If students acquire a taste for learning, they will be able to take charge of their own lives in uncertain times and ultimately blossom into a wealth of possibilities. https://japannews.yomiuri.co.jp/editorial/political-pulse/20250705-267840/?utm_source=piano&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=8464&pnespid=peefiIpSu6HK4.er_BPx5Pgb6kwP.SZvml00Tkks6UCVb_WqVVC222fKgg4S1wR_DC0fTA Best Regards Seetha Ram

How to Get What You Want Without Asking for It - Chanakya Niti
